The original 1772 recipe for this salve states, ” It clears and preserves the complexion, and is of use for red pimpled faces.” This excellent acne-fighting agent also has antibacterial properties and is very useful in the treatment of rashes, cuts, burns, scrapes, & general skin irritation.  It can reduce inflammation, promote skin regeneration, and relieve pain. It can help take away the itch of mosquito bites and help sooth a red nose from colds and sniffles.
