Pomatum is a perfumed ointment used for the hair, face, and skin.  This particular recipe, aptly titled “To Make Pomatum,” is from 1739, and will assist you in achieving a wide variety of 18th century looks.  From smoother styles (including the fashionably tall hair of Marie Antoinette) to hedgehog curls, this clove-scented Pomatum will keep your hair conditioned while remaining authentic to the time period.

Materials: Clove, lard, fat, essential oil, organic sage essential oil, organic beeswax
